Are your roots buried in the Welsh Valleys? Does your family tree branch out into the coalfields and the iron works of a country that led the Industrial Revolution?
Rhondda Cynon Taf is an area where your roots may run deep. Let us help you dig deeper!
The Rhondda Cynon Taf area was the home of heavy industry in Wales from the 1850's right up until the 1980's. Thousands of people migrated into the area to work in the mines and accompanying industries.

-
This year's Wales Valleys Walking Festival is even bigger and better with over 40 guided walks spread over 2 weeks in early Autumn.
So why should the Valleys be your walking festival of choice for 2008?
Well, for starters, it's your opportunity to see just how spectacular the valleys of today are. These days you won't see a coal mine (unless it happens to be one of our tourism attractions) but you will see a unique roller-coaster landscape of hills and vales dotted with friendly towns and villages.
Also we have put together a range of walks to suit all abilities and tastes. If you are new to walking and want to go for a leisurely stroll, then 'Stepping Out' marked walks are for you.
Those of you who have clocked up the miles can take a look at 'Picking Up the Pace' and 'There's No Stopping You' walks. No Festival would be complete without some walks designed for seasoned walkers, so take a look at those marked 'Striding Out'. All of this with experienced and enthusiastic leaders proud to share their valleys with you!
Happy walking!
